MORE CRACKERS THAN MR CHRISTMAS?
A man who eats Christmas dinner every day is launching a quest to unearth Britain’s biggest festive fanatics.
Andy Park, known as Mr Christmas, has munched his way through 5,840 Christmas lunches since he started his festive fixation in July 1994.
The father of one estimates he has consumed 5,110 turkeys, 94,080 mince pies, 28,224 roast potatoes, and opened 204,400 Christmas presents over the years. And at £150 per week, he calculates he has spent more than £300,000 feeding his obsession.
The 45-year-old electrician, from Melksham, Wiltshire, has been hired by the world’s oldest Christmas pudding maker, Matthew Walker, to leave no stone unturned in a bid to find fellow bizarre seasonal stars in Town who take celebrations to another level. The company hopes to create the UK’s first ever Christmas Cheer Advisory panel, giving Yuletide tips to Britain's ’bah humbugs’.
Festive fanatics who think they’re worthy of the Christmas Cracker crown, and wish to win a luxury family trip to Lapland, should email love@xmaspuds.com to register their interest.
Mr Park said: "I remember how it all started. I was feeling down in the dumps one day and so I decided to put the decorations up in the house and it made me feel happy. So, I did it the next day and the next, and now it’s 15-years later and I’m still smiling."
"There is a certain magic about Christmas, it just makes you feel happy, and it is the season to be jolly after all. I can’t wait to see what other festive fans this quest uncovers! My daily routine starts with breakfast consisting of seven or eight mince pies and a glass of sherry. After that I open the presents I’ve wrapped for myself and then I’ll watch a Christmas film like The Great Escape while eating my dinner."
A spokesperson for Matthew Walker, said: "We’ve made tasty puds seven days a week, 52 weeks of the year since 1899 so we know a thing or two about Christmas! We want to share that special Christmas feeling so what better way than to uncover the UK’s top festive fans! Our panel, headed up by Mr Christmas will provide the nation with some much-needed Christmas cheer this year."
